Playground Showcase

It's pretty safe to say that one of my Quilting idols is Amy Sinabaldi - I love her style, her colour choices, her patterns and her fabric ranges are to die for.  So getting to be able to work on her Playground Showcase was nothing short of amazing.  Playground is Amy's latest range for Art Gallery Fabrics and is available now.

As soon as this amazing bundle arrived from Amy I got straight to sewing.  I love the childhood memories behind this range and how each of the prints remind me of games I played or things we used to do with my family when I was young.  The colours work so great together and I knew I wanted to do a project that involved using the complete range together.

First up,  I made this Pin Pal Pincushion.

From the range I would have to say that Chopsticks in Iris would be my favourite print - I can see using a lot of this one in lots of upcoming projects - I love stripes - but these Chevron, staggered stripes are the ultimate.

This Pin Pal is our latest Sew Along pattern (Sew Along is a joint venture between myself and Claire Turpin Design) and I have not been able to stop making these addictive Sewing Room mates.  I really adore the colours in the prints and how well they work together.

When Amy and I chatted about possible projects this Confetti Cushion was definitely going to work well to show how the range of prints and colours all can work beautifully in one project together.  Using the collection and a Cotton/Linen Weave Blend I set about making a Confetti Cushion.

And when it came to machine quilting it - I could not go past adding some Pink Sparkle with my favourite Aurifil Brillo Thread - #700.  I really love this Aurifil metallic thread - it sews like a dream through your machine and gives that added touch of glitz.

I can't wait to get making on some more projects using Playground - and can't wait to see what Amy will have in store for her next range.

There are a lot of amazing makers involved in the Playground Showcase - you can check them all out here -

Dare/Essentials II - Art Gallery- The Mini's Quilt Blog Tour

Today is my turn on Pat Bravo's - The Minis Quilt Blog Tour.  These fabrics from Pats ranges - Dare and Essentials II pair perfectly together and when I opened the package to find all these Pink and Blue fabrics - I was smitten.

Creating a Mini Quilt using all these fabrics was easy using my Vintage Cotton Reel Mini Quilt.  This pattern was perfect to use lots of fabrics that would create such a lovely overall effect.

I really so enjoy sewing with Art Gallery fabrics - the feel and sheen to the fabrics is so luxurious to sew with.  These ranges compliment each other so well and mix and match beautifully.

I love Straight Line quilting and this design was perfect to just quilt, quilt and quilt some more straight lines.  This magical Aurifil #5007 was just such a lovely ice blue that worked really well against the colours of the fabrics but was not to over powering on top of the white fabric.

While this may be considered "Scrappy Binding" - I don't think there is anything scrappy about it. Using all the pieces I had left I sewed 6.5in x 2.5in pieces together to make a Binding strip long enough for my Mini Quilt.  Just the perfect finish.

This Vintage Cotton Reel Mini Quilt has come up so well in these fabrics and will even be on show at the upcoming Salt Lake City Quilt Market.

Normally I would sew down the Cotton Reel tail itself, but because of the closeness of my Straight Line Quilting this want necessary as it was going to be well sewn down.

is available in my store as a PDF download.

Paperie by Amy Sinibaldi - Blog Tour

Sometimes a fabric range comes along and it is just magical - just the perfect prints in the most delicate and beautiful colours.  Amy Sinibaldi's first fabric range - Paperie for Art Gallery Fabrics is just stunning.  I was so excited getting to work on this Blog Tour with these prints.

I have been a long time fan of Amy and her creative work.  She has such an inspirational style all of her own and this range just exemplifies this.  This range, inspired by her love of books showcases individual prints that match and co-ordinate in harmony with one another.  Striking dark colours that perfectly compliment the softest pinks and peaches .  And can I say that her "Stamped" text print is about to become my new favourite background print.

As soon as my bundle of fabric arrived I quickly set about sewing one of my "Cotton Reel Pincushions" while I decided what larger project I would make from these prints.

This Butterfly Charm Block was the start for an Undercover Maker Mat.  I have been wanting to make this pattern since I first saw Nicole's from Lillyella make hers.  Paperie worked beautifully to create the individual pockets and Mat.

I just adore this range and I know it is going to be a well loved fabric addition in your stash.  I have several other projects planned for Paperie to add some other accessories and I think my girls would love a dress made with this range.

If you would like to win a pack of Charm Squares from Amy, then head over to my Instagram account @tiedwitharibbon and leave a comment. AGF Stitched Event - Locket Quilt

One of my favourite ranges that I fell in love with at Fall Market was Paperie by Amy Sinibaldi for Art Gallery Fabrics.  This is Amy's first range and - wow - it is ever so sweet and just the perfect assortment of fabrics.  The colours are delicate and bold and each print complements perfectly.

Being invited to work on the latest AGF Stitched Event together with Fat Quarter Shop has been great fun.  The latest Quilt design - Locket Quilt is a large scale block design that works so well with this range.  The Locket Quilt pattern (available free) can be found here.  Along with a Video Tutorial  - here.

These blocks came together quickly and I decided that I would turn my Locket Quilt Blocks into a Table Runner.  The colours in the prints allow the pattern to stand out and have sewn up well in a row which slightly differs to the pattern's "on point" block formation.

I quilted around the shapes using tramlines in matching Aurifil Thread colours.

You can find the Quilt Kit to make this Locket Quilt and Backing Set all over at Fat Quarter Shop.

Here is the list of all the other participating Bloggers for you to check out the Locket Quilts and projects they have made.

Art Gallery Fabrics Stitched Event with Kimberley - Welded Quilt - Part 2

With my Anna Elise Art Gallery fabrics and armed with the Welded Quilt pattern I set off on a slightly different tangent.  I decided on a smaller project that was perfect for the Welded Quilt pattern. This has been a great event by Fat Quarter Shop and Art Gallery Fabrics.

The fabrics in this range are just so sweet and the colours compliment the feel of this fabric beautifully.

I decided on making a large Scatter Cushion (26in x 26in).  Just perfect for a young lady I know that will love this to add to her room.

After Fussy Cutting the centre block I worked the pattern just the same as for the Quilt and also adding the corner blocks which are great to sew as they will lay nice and flat as these are not cut on the bias for sewing.

There are so many varied versions of the Welded Quilt over at the #weldedquilt by the very talented designers who joined in on this event.

Make sure to pop over on Instagram and check out all the Quilts, Dresses, Backpacks and other creations made with the Welded Quilt Pattern
