Big Blocks Quilt Pattern Release

Introducing my newest Quilt pattern - BIG BLOCKS!

After the release of Quilt Big, I even more realised the value you guys hold in blocks that come together very quickly to give you results fast.  I get it - our sewing time is precious so when you get the time to Quilt and sew you want to make it count and even more so when you need a project for a present pronto.

So I set about designing a block that would be big in size and fast on completing.  I also wanted it to have a small number of blocks to make in total, so playing with the sizing  became very important.

Big Blocks is a great design to showcase your favourite fabrics.  You can use Fat Quarters or Bundles you have been hoarding in your stash.  This is also a great design to use up your scraps - so dive right in to your scrap bucket and make a dent.  You can change up the background from one Background colour to using up different fabrics for each block - really this pattern is so versatile.  Make is Rainbow order or choose a more limited colour palette - the sky is the limit and this will become a firm favourite when you need a go to quilt to make.

This version was made using up fabrics from my hoarded Carolyn Friedlander Stash.  I used three main colours - Teal, Orange and Mustards along with a different fabric for each background in each block.

This version was made using Tula Pink Solids and the Fairy Dust print from her Pinkerville Range for the Background.

This really is a fun and fast Quilt to make - the pattern includes 3 sizes - Baby, Lap and Queen sizes.  Also included is a Colouring Sheet so you can plan out your chosen fabrics and colours.

This pattern is also available to wholesale customers through Creative Abundance (who stock and distribute my patterns internationally)

Chain of Hearts Quilt Pattern

Introducing my Chain of Hearts Quilt pattern.  I have to admit this design has been in the works for several years.  I first drew up and designed this quilt about 2 years ago, I even pulled this exact fabric that I ended up still using because these fabrics are spectacular.  Over that time, the quilt would come out and then for one reason or another be put aside.

So back in about March, I decided it was time to get this design out and sewn up because I had lots of ideas for how to make this pattern even better now.

I wanted to design a beautiful heart inspired design for this quilt and played with the layout quite a bit.  For me this was the first time I had designed a pattern "on point" and so I knew that in terms of how I was going to write out the pattern and work up the diagrams was going to be a new challenge but one I was excited to take on.  After working up this design in the Throw size, I knew that this would make the perfect Baby Quilt and Pillow sizes as well to add more options to this pattern.

In the midst of all this designing and creating in these beautiful Liberty fabrics and Chambrays, I happened to have come across my desk - the amazing Alison Glass Sunprint 2019 arrive and well - I knew what I needed to now include in this design.  That's right - a Rainbow order version.

Bringing together Sunprint 2019 and the Kaleidoscope collection fabrics was just a made made in Alison Glass fabric heaven.

The Chain of Hearts Pattern includes three sizes - Baby, Throw and Pillow versions in the 4 colour version along with the Throw size in the Rainbow Order colour way.  Full colour photos and illustrations are included in this bumper 18page pattern as well as a Colouring Sheet to help you plan.

This pattern is also available to wholesale customers through Creative Abundance (who stock and distribute my patterns internationally)

Summer Sampler 2019 - Piecing Bootcamp

Its here - the Summer Sampler for 2019 has just been released and I am beyond excited to have been asked to participate as a designer in this highly anticipated series that is launching again this year.  Faith Jones @freshlemonsquilts, Lee Heinrich @lee.a.heinrich and Katie Blakesley @swimbikequilt invited me to create a block based off one of my favourite Piecing Skills.  Its all about growing your skills and confidence throughout the various piecing and design techniques.

Involved in the series are 17 amazingly talented designers with 21 Quilt Blocks and 2 Finishing Layout Patterns for you to choose.

Kicking off on May 20th, each Monday for 21 weeks, Quilt Along style, you will receive a pattern via email for a specific technique based quilt block.  There are 2 different finishing options so at the end of the quilt along you can decide if you would prefer the curves or diamond layout option for your blocks.

When you sign up you also get access to a Private Facebook Quilt Along group.

Can you guess which Block I have created?

The cost of the Quilt Along is US$29.99

I will be showcasing my block in more detail in September so stay tuned.

That is right friends - I designed the Equilateral Triangles Block - "Twist and Turn".

I am really looking forward to seeing the blocks that everyone creates
