High Tea Blog Tour

Today is my stop on the High Tea Blog Tour.  This is Jera of Quilting in the Rain's first collection for Lecien and it is simply lovely.    Delicate florals mixed with great co-ordinates and sweet tea cups and doily's.  If you love soft colours then this will be just the range you have been looking for.

The Charm pack was the perfect pack size to make one of my Kaleidescope Mini Quilt/Cushions with.    The mix of colours and prints is really sweet with this more subtle colour palette.  There are perfect prints to be able to fussy cut and then there are some which are lovely geometric style prints that match in really well to balance out the range.

It was great getting to meet Jera in person at Spring Market and her debut collection for Lecien is just so sweet.  The tiny florals too will appeal to all those who love floral prints.  I really love the red Jera has chosen with this collection.

Pretty Posies Kaleisdescope Cushion

Pretty Posies for Robert Kaufman is a sweet range inspired by 1930's reproductions with a beautiful mix of strong colours with lovely low volume prints all to match.

When this bundle arrived from Westwood Acres I knew this would make a cute Kaleidoscope Cushion and set about cutting and foundation paper piecing these pretties.  Westwood Acres is a US based online fabric store that always curates the most amazing bundles. I love how there are always matching solids made available for all your favourite ranges.

I used some simple machine quilting to let the fabrics sing without much interference from a heavy quilted design.

This pattern is available here as a PDF download here in my store. I have added a few extra blocks to make this cushion larger but whether you are making a Cushion or Mini Quilt this pattern is always a winner.

Bits and Pieces

Earlier this year in my travels to Melbourne I visited the Morris and Sons store.  So full of yarns, wool and so many patterns and inspiration - it was a great stop especially if you love all things Crochet, Knitting, Embroidery and Cross Stitch.  I  chose these two balls of yarn for a Coco Cowl that I had in mind to make for a special friend.  I used Morris "Paddington" 6ply in Ink Blue and the amazing variegated yarn is the most amazing Debbie Bliss "Luxury Silk Dk" col 48041.

I have used Silks before but never ones like this - it was so beautiful to crochet and the colours are so vibrant and it has the softest feel to it.  I made this cowl from the Coco Cowl pattern by Tangled Yarns.  It is a fairly quick project and I have made a few of these before as I just love to crochet these.

I am participating in the #craftybirthdaybash1.  There are 12 of us in this group and each Month we send the Birthday person a sweet handmade gift.  It is an amazing group of very talented sewers and stitchers.  

I made this Kaleidescope Mini Quilt for Sarah who celebrated her birthday in May.  I made it all from Liberty fabrics from my stash and then Hand quilted the Linen.  This is such a fun and creative group to be a part of and - well it is my  Birthday Month next so I am truly excited.

Many of you know that I am a big Jen Kingwell fan and spent hours visiting Amitie Textiles as well when I was in Melbourne.  Jen's book - Quilt Lovely had just been released and all the quilts and cushions were actually in the shop when I visited.  There were so many amazing Quilts and Cushions in this book.  I fell in love with this one - "Small Wonders" and have made my own.  I just love it and no one is allowed near it on the couch.  I have plans for quite a few other projects also from the book.

Holiday Sewing Fun

I love the start of a new year - there is such a buzz about what will come through the year and all the great plans you have to achieve.  Holidays also mean a bit of sewing just for me and for fun!  With both my girls home I know that "work" style sewing and creating is set aside for a while while I enjoy some time with my girls.

One of the projects I have been working on is my Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt Swap Project.  I broke out my Cotton and Steel stash that had just been waiting for just the right project and my Black and White Text and Low volume fabrics.  I used our Kaleidescope Foundation Paper Pieced Cushion pattern and have made a Mini Quilt version.  This is heading off overseas soon for my swap partner.

I am a lucky girl - look at this beautiful new range Milk Flower & Sugar by Elea Lutz that Millhouse Collections sent me to play with.  This range will be available here in Aus in February and I can't wait to cutting, creating and sewing with these beautiful fabrics.  The bunny print is just adorable and I love the colours.

As any quilter will know washing and looking after your quilts is very important to their care.  Millhouse Collections now have the Soak range available and if you have not used them before for your quilts then I highly recommend them.  The "Flatter is great while ironing and pressing your seams and your quilts will never have smelled so beautiful after washing them after using "Soak Wash".  

Another fun project I can't wait to get stuck into is this "Frances" dress.  I have not strayed too far form the pattern picture choosing Chambray and a Red Liberty print myself to make this.
