Bluebirds on Roses Project Tour

Today I am thrilled to share with you one of my gorgeous friends latest fabric collection.  Introducing Bluebirds on Roses by Elea Lutz for Riley Blake Designs. It's ever so sweet filled with Elea's signature style floral Blooms, the cutest little Bluebirds and little Kitties playing among the flowers.  Seriously - cuteness overload!

I love the colour palette that Elea uses in her designs - not only do these stand alone as beautiful fabrics to use for an entire project but they all co-ordinate so well together as well as building wonderfully on her previous collections which you may already have in your stash.

Bluebirds on Roses is definitely going to have to go on your "Must Have" Fabric list - I'm especially in love with the Main Red Floral - its just devine,  but it is very hard to go past the Floral Pink as a firm favourite of mine.  Bluebirds on Roses is already shipping to stores Internationally so check out your Local Patchwork Store for this amazing collection by Elea.

It actually took me a rather long time to cut into these fabrics as I couldn't decide what I wanted to make with these - I kept looking admiringly at them until I finally made the call to work on making a Crochet Trim Blanket.  Mostly because Elea has told me a number of times that this is one of her favourite designs of mine.  So off I went cutting...

I love getting to play with the fabrics as you place them all next to each other in this design.  Simple squares couldn't be more perfect for these fabrics as they really shine and you can see the detail in these prints.  I machine quilted it with just some "tram line" quilting and then used the Daisy Red print for the Binding.  This Crochet Trim Blanket comes together very quickly as the quilt itself.  Then on to the Trim.

A sweet Crochet Trim details just finishes this Blanket off perfectly.  You only need to know a few handful of Crochet Stitches to make this. I love making these Crochet Trim Blankets as gifts to celebrate new arrivals.  These are perfect for Babies to use either in Nursery Cots, in Prams, for in the Car or practically anywhere you go as they are light and small.  Also great as a cuddle Blanket to for Toddlers due to its size and texture to hold.

On the back of the Crochet Trim Blanket I used the Droplet Mint print - seriously just love this shade of Aqua.

Dolly Book Tour

In life sometimes you come across people whom you have formed a friendship with and whilst you have never met you get along famously.  And then one day you meet and it is like you have never not known each other - well this special friend, her name is Elea.

Elea Lutz is an enormously talented fabric designer, creative, and product designer.  I have long been a big fan of Elea's fabric ranges and work and overtime she creates something new it is even better than the last.  

Elea's latest work is a new book called "Dolly - The sweet book of doll projects to sew and love".  Dolly is published by Riley Blake Designs.  Inspired by memories of her childhood, Elea has created these fantastic projects to take you back to those innocent days filled with playtime and fun. 

There are dolls to make, mini quilts, fun dress up dolls, accessories and the sweetest little Playhouse Tote.  Beautifully laid out with easy to follow instructions this book will capture your heart.  

And here is Elea's latest fabric range - Little Dolly - how could I resist not using this to pair up with my chosen project from the book.  

I decided to make the Doll Dress Wall Hanging which is just ever so sweet. I love Appliqué so I was of course drawn straight away to this project.  The book includes full size patterns which is fantastic so that you can get started straight away.

I also of course used my favourite Aurifil Thread and went with the Pink and Silver Brillo for the Appliqué and then the quilting.  With Christmas on my mind I thought that this would make a beautiful gift for so I decided to add a simple Envelope Back to make it into a cushion. 

It will be hard to stop at one project in this book with several others that have caught my interest.

Penny Rose Design Team - Foldover Clutch Tutorial

Today is my turn on the Penny Rose Design team to share with you all about some of the latest ranges and a Tutorial.  You all know just how much I adore the fabric collections of Elea Lutz and her latest range Apple Farm is just so darn adorable.

With so many sweet prints - you will just love this range.  While the designs are cute and whimsical I decided to pick out some of the more "sophisticated" prints to show you how to make these Foldover Clutches.  I think these would be great for a night out to mix and match with your outfits and hold all of a girls essentials!

These are great fun to make for yourself and as gifts.  Fill them with your favourite things and off you go. You can add Tassel's or Zipper Pulls or even pieces of Ribbon through the Zip pull.

Apple Farm Blog Tour

Today is my stop on the Apple Farm Blog Tour.  You all know that I just adore Elea Lutz designs and this latest collection for Penny Rose Fabrics is just her cutest.  I really love the small scale prints with florals and ginghams and the cutest little characters for which Elea has such a talent for.

Elea has such a style and flair for these sweet reproduction style prints.  I just love the cute detail and her addition of the brown in this collection was just perfect.  I really had trouble choosing a favourite print as it kept changing.  This is a great range that will be a lovely addition to your stash.

The colours Elea has chosen for this range are just so bright and the prints mix and match so well.  I knew it was going to be hard to stop at only one project and with the Apples I thought it perfect for some "Back to School" inspired projects.

This "Rainbow Drawing Folder" is one of our Sew Along Patterns.  I decided to change the star pattern we usually use and drew an apple instead for the front Appliqué.  

There is just the perfect mix of busy prints along with co-ordinates in this range. 

With lots of places for pens/pencils and book this Rainbow Drawing Folder has pockets also with zips to keep things safe inside to make it great when travelling.

Another great school inspired project I made with Apple Farm is my

"Colour My World Pencil Case" pattern.  

These are great fun and make a great gift to make.

I told you I had trouble stopping at one project to make with this range - this "On the Go Backpack"  by Heather Bailey is just a great pattern.  

I love the drawstring detail and the front pocket is a perfect size.  I saw this pattern on display at Quilt Market and was so excited when it was released.  

I will definitely be making more of these and think that they would be great as Christmas gifts.  The Yellow Gingham is definitely my favourite print from this range.

Apple Farm is now available and in Australia is Distributed by Millhouse Collections.  Just such a sweet range from Elea - I can't wait to see what she has in store for her next range.

Pretty Playtime Quilts - Quilt Along

It is no secret that Strawberry Biscuit by Elea Lutz is one of my favourite fabric ranges and so when she and Kimberley from the Fat Quarter Shop team up to produce this wonderful book - well - pretty amazing sums it up.

This book features absolutely adorable designs for you to make and sew.  The instructions are really easy to follow to make these designs.  I am here today to share the block I made for the Pretty Playtime Quilts Quilt - Along.

I made the Cottage block and with clear instructions it was easy and quick to make.

I was ever so lucky to have travelled all the way to Salt Lake City to Quilt Market.  While I was there I was able to get Elea to sign my copy of the book - this I will treasure.

The book is available HERE and I have used the upcoming Flower Sugar Sweet Carnival range by Lecien (due out in October) to make my block with.

Strawberry Biscuit Blog Hop

Today is my turn on the Strawberry Biscuit Fabric Blog Hop and one of my favourite fabric designers - Elea Lutz has done it again with her amazing new range - Strawberry Biscuit.  Strawberry Biscuit for Penny Rose Fabrics is available now and will certainly leave you wanting to add plenty of it to your stash.  The sweet prints with Strawberries, Flowers, Ribbons and bows and the cutest ever characters makes for a wonderful collection with vibrant deep colours.                                

If you have been a fan of Elea's previous ranges - "Milk, Sugar and Flower" and "Little Joys" then you will fall in love again with this delightful fabrics.

I am a big fan of Reds, Blues and Pinks and the shades of these fabrics are bright and bold.  With beautiful and delicate scallops and the character prints are so sweet with lots of opportunities for those who love to Fussy Cut.

The Mini Quilts and Cushions featured are my latest pattern - Sweet Treats.  I knew these fabrics would be perfect for these Sweet inspired treats and just the right colours to show off these designs.

Elea has a real attention to detail with her character prints containing lots of detail to tell the story of these animal friends.  If you love Puppies then there are lots of cute little dogs you will adore.  I think my favourite prints would have to be "Scallop" and "Daisy" - these are so versatile and I just love the colours of these prints in this range.

Strawberry Biscuit is available now and is distributed in Australia through Millhouse Collections.  I can not wait for Elea's next range - "Apple Yard" - which all ready has me dreaming up new designs.
