I have long loved the fabric collections by designer Alison Glass. Her latest collection - Road Trip for Andover Fabrics though, has me all giddy! It has all my favourite elements - bright florals, bold prints, saturated colours all in a Rainbow spectrum. What more could a quilter ask for! Naturally when Alison sent me some to play with I knew I needed to make a quilt that showcased these prints and to do her collection proud. Bring on the beginnings of a new Electric Pop.
With a large number of prints to choose which paired perfectly with her previous collection of Shot Cotton and Chambray solids called Kaleidoscope, I quickly knew I was going to NEED to make an Electric Pop Quilt to marry these two ranges together.
As I was beginning to pair up the Solids and prints in each of these blocks - I loved how with having all the Kaleidoscope Collection (In a Fat 1/8th Bundle from Sew Mondo) gave me the selection of Yarn Dyes to match each Print to the perfect coloured Solid.
These prints were just perfect to colour wash across the quilt - I decided to go from lightest to darkest on the diagonal for this one. I just adore those sweet florals and those Strawberries are just so cute.
The prints from Road Trip are 100% Cotton while the Kaleidoscope collection are mostly Shot Cottons and a couple of Chambray's. The Background fabric is "Indigo" also from Kaleidoscope. These two ranges work so beautifully together and have such a texture and soft drape that I love - I can never go past a quilt swirl pic.
The backing fabric was an easy choice using Alison Glass's Wideback - Diving Board - Puerto Cool.
It is also available wholesale through Creative Abundance.
Whilst making this quilt my eldest daughter quickly claimed this one - so I made a matching pillow as well for her to have a new quilt on her bed. She loves the dark, moody colour of this quilt.
Both Road Trip and Kaleidoscope are out in stores now.
Happy Quilting
