Art Gallery Fabrics Stitched Event with Kimberley - Welded Quilt - Part 2

With my Anna Elise Art Gallery fabrics and armed with the Welded Quilt pattern I set off on a slightly different tangent.  I decided on a smaller project that was perfect for the Welded Quilt pattern. This has been a great event by Fat Quarter Shop and Art Gallery Fabrics.

The fabrics in this range are just so sweet and the colours compliment the feel of this fabric beautifully.

I decided on making a large Scatter Cushion (26in x 26in).  Just perfect for a young lady I know that will love this to add to her room.

After Fussy Cutting the centre block I worked the pattern just the same as for the Quilt and also adding the corner blocks which are great to sew as they will lay nice and flat as these are not cut on the bias for sewing.

There are so many varied versions of the Welded Quilt over at the #weldedquilt by the very talented designers who joined in on this event.

Make sure to pop over on Instagram and check out all the Quilts, Dresses, Backpacks and other creations made with the Welded Quilt Pattern

Art Gallery Fabrics Stitched Event with Kimberley - Welded Quilt

I am excited to announce today that I have been invited to join the AGF Stiched Event featuring the - Welded Quilt together with Fat Quarter Shop.  You can get all the details for this AGF Stitched Event with kimberley here

This event will feature some very Inspiring Bloggers and Designers.  So make sure to stop by and check out their Quilts as they go too.

There is even a kit to make the Welded Quilt  just like Kimberley's as well
as the Backing Kit.

For my choice of fabrics I have decided to go with this very sweet range Anna Elise by Bari J for Art Gallery Fabrics.  I could not go past the young girls on horseback or the very cute bunnies and guitars featured in this range.  The colours are so fresh and I have plans to make a smaller project a little different to the Quilt.  But I will keep you all up to date with this as I go.

Yule Tide Tree Skirt Sew Along

YULE TIDE TREE SKIRT SEW ALONG

As the Christmas and festive season soon will be upon us, getting a head start on some of your Christmas crafting and sewing is a great way to get in the mood.

Hosted by @ohhowsweetco and together with @claireturpindesigns and myself - @tiedwitharibbon we are working on a Sew Along to make this beautiful Tree Skirt.  This will keep you on track with your sewing and make sure that you have time for all the other things too.

The #YuleTideSAL will start on October 5th with a 6 week duration.  It is not to say that it is such a big project that it needs 6 weeks, the idea is that it gives you time to work around everything else happening at such a busy time   in an  enjoyable and fuss free manner.

The Pattern is available here - Yule Tide Tree Skirt at by using the code: YULETIDE at the checkout you will get 15% discount not only off that pattern but everything else in my Etsy store.

The Pattern is also available wholesale at Creative Abundance if you are a store interested in carrying this design.
Stockists for the Yule Tide Tree Skirt are below

All the requirements are listed on the pattern and this is a great pattern to co-ordinate to your favourite Christmas colours or to use up even your scraps from your basket.  We have used a linen for the Background of the Tree Skirt.  This gave a neutral base to add lots of colour and cheer to the skirt.

We have used a mix of 1930's prints and Liberty Fabrics for a fairly modern look.  You can certainly keep it as traditional or modern as you like.  This pattern lets you create a very personalised Tree Skirt to suit your family.

There will be lots of fun along the way for this Sew Along and some prizes planned.  So we can see every ones progress we are using the Hash tag - yuletidesal (#yuletidesal) over on Instagram.

We look forward to you joining us.

Pretty Posies Kaleisdescope Cushion

Pretty Posies for Robert Kaufman is a sweet range inspired by 1930's reproductions with a beautiful mix of strong colours with lovely low volume prints all to match.

When this bundle arrived from Westwood Acres I knew this would make a cute Kaleidoscope Cushion and set about cutting and foundation paper piecing these pretties.  Westwood Acres is a US based online fabric store that always curates the most amazing bundles. I love how there are always matching solids made available for all your favourite ranges.

I used some simple machine quilting to let the fabrics sing without much interference from a heavy quilted design.

This pattern is available here as a PDF download here in my store. I have added a few extra blocks to make this cushion larger but whether you are making a Cushion or Mini Quilt this pattern is always a winner.

Child's Smile Retro 30's - Starstruck Quilt

Recently I have been working with this beautiful new upcoming range from Lecien Fabrics- Child's Smile Retro 30's.  These colours are so vibrant and bright and filled with the cutest prints including strawberries, flowers, dots, children and lots of sweet toy animals.

This collection has a large number of prints in it which made it perfect to make a Starstruck Quilt to showcase this new range.  Each group of stars was made using one of the colour ways in the collection.

Pieced and Machine quilted in Aurifil.  I used a loopy Free-Motion design to quilt all over the quilt.  This quilt is an excellent size for a baby or for a toddler.

Currently winging its way to Lecien HQ - this Quilt will be on display at Fall Market.

My Starstruck Quilt Pattern is available here at my On-line store as a PDF download or for Wholesale purchase through Creative Abundance

Liberty and Crochet Blanket for a sweet Baby girl!

Liberty of London fabrics are certainly one of my favourites - so combine making a Liberty Quilt and Crochet and it is a quilt made in heaven. The pattern for the Crochet Trim blanket is available here.

I firstly made a simple squares quilt using Liberty fabric.  I cut large squares out of some of my favourites and then sew them together to make a quilt top. Because I wanted this quilt to be a light and soft quilt I chose "Quilt Lite" for the Batting as this is almost like a layer of flannel in the centre - rather than a regular Cotton Batting.

On the back I had bought this amazing piece of Liberty Gallymoggers which has all the custest drawings of all the Alice in Wonderland characters - just perfect to keep in one piece and then can be completely reversed for this Crochet Trim Blanket.

I used Aurifil 12wt #2021 to hand quilt the quilt outlining the squares and then finished off the binding just as normal.  Once the quilt was finished then the crochet Border was sewn.

Using Rowan - Siena 4ply (Mercerised Cotton) in an off white colour I started the trim using a Blanket stitch to have an anchor row for the crochet trim using a "Knitter's Needle".  Using a 2.75mm Clover hook I then crocheted a scallop around the foundation Blanket stitch.

I feel that there will be lots more of this type of quilt to be made in the future.  I am so happy with how it looks and the drape is just so soft.  Perfect for a new baby and such a portable quilt.
